I have been a Mom for a whole month and made enough mistakes to last a life time! I was joking with my mom on the phone yesterday that I would love to start fresh with all that I have learned in the last 28 days. I guess that is why they call first kids your true experiments. I would also like to turn in my sick child for a healthy baby. She has a cold, a diaper rash, and thrush...I am wondering what else I can do to her. Oh I know, I know, it isn't my fault, but she keeps looking up at me with her little eyes and asking me in no uncertain terms to make it all better. I just keep wishing that I could.
Anyways... here are a couple of things I have learned thus far:
1. Not every cry means something...
2. Never say never because I do all things I never thought I would. Example: Giving up a shower for three days because I just didn't have time.
3. I am a sucker for a good cuddle...I love when she cuddles into my chest and falls asleep.
4. I am going against number two and saying I will never again be objective . . . my baby will always be perfect ;)
5. I don't function well with out sleep...normal sleep. But I will have to learn to function.
6. The Baker genes are very strong.
and 7. Jokes about me being chubby (Tyler) are not funny!
I hope my blog doesn't start to become boring (if it wasn't already) or baby obsessed, but hey this is our life right now and we are loving it.
Lastly, this months visiting teaching message was one how to protect and defend the family. I stand in awe at how amazing our Heavenly Father's plan is and how perfect the structure of the family is. I would be nothing with out my husband (he would be even less with out me lol) and the responsibility and joy that comes from raising children must be and is amazing. I thank my Heavenly Father every day, multiple times, for allowing me to be a mother.

Oh boy! I hope nursing (?) is going ok...that would be lousy if you got thrush too!
I am so very grateful that babies don't remember much in their first few years of life! I'm sorry your little girl is so sick. And don't worry about a baby heavy blog. That is all anyone else does, kids are all we have to talk about most days!
You are such a beautiful and wonderful mother! I love you dearie and love every minute I get to be with you and am so happy I am so close at this stage in your life! Speaking of which, can I come visit you lots this weekend and next week? Please? YOU are my FAVORITE!
Love the updates, keep them coming!!!! YOu're doing great! She is soooo adorable!
Okay I will give you my best diaper rash cure. Hers may not be that bad cuz she is pretty young so if this does not apply then just file it away for future use. This is for the sort of diaper rash that leaves the skin really raw. Often when they are sick it seems like there is something in their poop that burns their skin and irritates it. Most people recommend all sorts of ointments but I hate them all because it hurts them to put it in and I feel like it traps in the moisture. What I do (and this works better in warmer weather) is to give them a good bath and then try to let them take a nap with their bum uncovered. Make sure the room is warm. Put something under her in case she pees. But I swear if you can just get their irritated skin some air for a couple of hours it heals over pretty quickly. As soon as it starts to dry out and heal, then get some vaseline on it and it will keep the poop from irritating it over and over again and it will heal. I am not sure if I am making any sense but I swear it works better than any ointment you will try. Vaseline is a great preventer of diaper rash if your baby is on an antibiotic that may irritate their skin. It's better to prevent it than to treat it. Good luck!
Wow she is beautiful. It is amazing how fast the time goes by. Cuddle her every moment she will let you. Abby is now 6 months and does not want to cuddle now...so sad.
All the mistakes you are making get all washed away because you just said you thank your Heavenly Father for motherhood, so I know he is proud of you Danielle for you and Tyler loving, and caring for that baby. I think it is true what they say about first kids but Mason turns 12 tomorrow and as I look back we did the best we could and I do think he turned out pretty good. I love you
