Becoming Better With Every Step...

"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing is changed, but our power to do is increased" (Heber J. Grant).

While are growing up we are constantly improving. We each make continuous goals and accomplish them. Sometimes the goals consist of finishing a school project, getting the splits, completing a scripture mastery and even cleaning your room, but no matter what the task; things are checked off a never ending list to make you a better person. Sometimes I think we need an "Old Women in Excellence" program. I need something to mark off and some sort of clear cut to do list to make me a better mother, wife, friend, daughter and etc.

Lately, I have tried to work at being a better friend. I am not always a great listener because I like to talk. I am not always great at making friends because I like people to reach out to me. I am not always great at thinking about other because I get overwhelmed with my own tasks. But- I am married to a great listener, who easily reaches outside his comfort zone and almost always thinks of others (sometimes before his family, but we love him anyways).

Don't you find that when you become a better friend you have better friends. I have so many wonderful friends scattered far and wide. I have always been blessed by so many amazing people. Thank you for being my friend and in turn I am trying to learn from all of you. So, this is what i am working on: my goal for this week, month, year and so on.

What would you like to be better at?

That was such a great post Danielle, and you ARE a great friend. You are always so positive and always finding ways to be better. That is such a great quality. I totally agree with your never ending list thing, there is always something to work for and accomplish, but this is life right?! Thanks for your comment, I know you guys think of hattie and we wish too that your weren't so far away.

You are an amazing friend. Brooks and I always talk about how friendly you and tyler were to us and everyone else in the ward. It wasn't the same after you left =) I hope I can be as good of a friend as you are one day. Btw I am the same way as far as waiting for people to talk to me =)

I would also like to be better at keeping in touch with friends and being a better listener instead of always the one venting! You have always been such a great friend to me and I love you! You are an amazing mother as well and are such a good example to me!

I just have to thank you again for moving into the neighborhood and into the ward. You are a great friend. Both you and Ty are really good at reaching out and bringing people together. And you are teaching Em to be a great friend too. Jonah is lucky to be learning from her.

Dani, I think that you are a great friend. I miss our walks together where we would just talk forever. I always thought you were a great listener and I was the one talking your ear off :) You are a great thank you card, letter writer too. Kyle is my teacher in thinking of others too. Him and Ty are similar in that area.

I would like to be better at giving service to others without needing to be asked to do it but rather relying on the spirit to help direct me to who I can bless that day. We were recently blessed by someone who did this for us and it made me want to be like them. I think those promptings are quite small and take a good listener to detect them.
