To quote the movie "The Sandlot"...
Sam Porter: Hey, you want a s'more?
Smalls: Some more of what?
Ham Porter: No, do you want a s'more?
Smalls: I haven't had anything yet... so how can I have some more of nothing?
Ham Porter: You're killing me, Smalls! These are s'mores stuff. Now pay attention. First you take the graham. You stick the chocolate on the graham. Then, you roast the mallow. When the mallow's flaming, you stick it on the chocolate. Then you cover it with the other end. Then, you stuff. Kind of messy, but good!
We decided we wanted more than a s'more and so we had to invent the S'MOST! First you take the chocolate chip cookie then you stick the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup on the cookie. Then, you roast the giant mallow (did you know they make giant mallows?). When the mallow's flaming, you stick it on the chocolate and cover it with ice cream, chocolate sauce and another cookie. Then you stuff. Really messy, but amazing! SERIOUSLY!
We went camping this weekend with our good friends the Mitchell's and some new friends the Walkers. Derek Mitchell's Grandfather built a cabin in or around the 1940s and it has obviously had some renovations since, but it was beautiful and built up next to Buck's Lake.
Tyler was so excited to fish with Emree. In preparation for the trip, he took her to the store and let her pick out her very own princess fishing pole. She carried it everyday and every minute we would let her. He couldn't wait to see the look on her face when she caught her very own fish. Unfortunately the fish only bit on Rusty's pole. We tried to get Emree to reel it in, but she refused. She also refused to touch the fish until it was being cleaned and gutted. Once decapitated, she touched the head and sides over and over, yelling, "I touched the fish." I guess it was a little less scary in pieces. Don't worry we washed her hands quickly afterward.
We also took the canoes out (pictures coming soon) and our little family canoed around the lake. Jesse just wanted to jump in the water and Emree thwarted Ty's paddling with her very own pink paddle. She is definitely in love with the color pink these days. We also sang "Just around the River Bend" at the top of our lungs and decided it didn't matter to our two year old that we were in a lake not a river.
Jesse mastered his crawling, but I honestly think his favorite moment of the whole experience was sitting in the suitcase with Emree. We should get him one for Christmas!
We came home dirty, tired, and full of sand, but smiling. It was the S'MOST fun we've had in a while!

How fun!!! We need to live by each other some day, our family has too much in common. Meg is obsessed with pink too, and Derrick also figured out how to crawl this week.
I'm glad you got to go camping. totally jealous.
What fun things you do with your family Danielle. You're a good mom.
