One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Emree has a fascination with fish. Of all the animals at the zoo she loves the fish tank the most. Lions, boring. Monkeys, been there, done that. Giraffes, who cares. But a tank full of Koi, WOW! She will sit by the fish tank for 40 minutes or so before she gets bored. I think that might be better than Elmo.

Last night, Tyler got home from school and decided Emree needed her very own fish. We already owned a bowl, don't ask me why, and so we figure it would be a pretty inexpensive pet. Each fish only cost 25-cents so we thought "What the heck! Let's get two." 50-cents later and a handful of rocks, Emree was ecstatic. Who knew we were such great parents.

My high light of the night, however, was when Tyler thanked the man at the store for helping us and calmly proclaimed, " We'll be back to buy some more when these ones die." I am not sure the store owner appreciated that.

Tyler wants to know if this gets us out of ever having to own a puppy? I said no.
Do you have a favorite childhood pet?

And I'm pretty sure you can get out of the puppy thing if you just say no... I will NOT EVER have a dog...maybe a cat..but NO DOG!! And tantrums...let me tell you do get worse at 2..I'm gonna be honest girls are no fun at this age!! Boys are bad at 3 and Girls at 2...But it will get better for a little while hopefully before it gets real bad...

I've missed so many posts. Now that checking girls in and out of apartments is over, I'm hoping to have more time to keep up with everything. Do you ever get to see Tyler or does school take up all of his time? Our friends always kill their fish when they try to clean the water out. Guess it's an art form.
I love the book Love and Logic for parents. (there is one for educators too) I like to use this strategy with Trey. I started young and tried to be consistent. It doesn't work every time when they are so young but they get the idea sooner or later. We'll see how the kiddos react when a second one comes, huh?

I love that Emree loves fish, so cute! And for me, I'm not much of a pet lover myself, so fish will probably be as far as we go with "pets." But growing up there was a time we had a puppy, which was a lot of fun. For Hattie's 2nd birthday we're going to take her to get her her own fish. So cute that you guys did this! Your apartment looks really nice.

Fish are a pain, but I love them too! We had two goldfish that AJ got for his birthday for about two years, and then they died. After that we had a hard time with fish. Then we got a 10 gallon tank, and Terry wants desperately to get rid of it (he has to feed the fish) and I keep telling him no. I'm keeping the fish. Then Lilly had a Beta fish, which she kept for over a year, and when she moved away, and left it here, it died of a broken heart. Or no one fed it. One of the two...

Anyway, Emree is adorable and I hope the fish keep her very happy for a long time!

We killed so many fish through my childhood. I can think of 12 we killed in like three months. We were really bad with pets...

Hope Emree is a better fish mom than we were!

I can't tell you the number of dead fish that I have flushed down the toilet. Good Luck!

Ya I was pretty bummed about not being able to do the triathlon. I'm getting over it though. Your little girl is a doll. I can't wait to see what Zoe will look like at that age. Congrats on the boy!
